1. asimpleenquiry asked: Im currently an ID student who is becoming engulfed in the lucrative world of Automotive Design, and was wondering what material you would recommend to someone who is just starting off such as myself? Much Respect, -DRC

Hey, thanks for your message. There are a few great books to check out. But online resources are the best for your sketch reference. The books I have listed include both product and automotive design. It is essential to have a passion for design in general as automotive design moves further and further into product design mentalities.

    Books and Literature.
    H-point
How to Design Cars like a Pro 1&2
    Auto Styling Magazine
    Cradle to Cradle
    1000 product designs
Find a good manufacturing processes book.

Rockport publishers is a great company that publishes books for creative professionals. They have everything, car design, product design, graphic design. All information you’ll need to master.

    Websites.
    Simkom
    Cardesign.ru (Russian sketch blog)
    Coroflot
    Carbodydesign
    Cardesignnews
    Idrawcars

These books and websites will lead you to a ton of more material, but these are the main ones. Kind of the basics I guess you could say.

I wish you the best of luck! You’re definitely on the right path by not being afraid to ask questions. Thats a key aspect of the process. If you don’t mind me asking what school will you be attending?
